Local love at Summertime Sessions

New to the Gold Coast entertainment scene this Summer, micro-fest Summertime Sessions in the Village knocked it out of the park last weekend for its final event of the season.

Local rock stalwart Lincoln Hillard (aka Bigfellalinc) headlined the final double-bill gig, with the the show being opened by the enigmatic Nicole Brophy.

Local residents flocked to the small and oft-unused Cuddihy Park, where first they visited their local takeaway joint, then threw down a blanket, tucked into their food, and soaked up the stripped back, acoustic tunes. And that set the scene for the rest of the evening, really; good local people supporting good local business and great local music. A local punter even put his hand up to have his head shaved on the night for the Leukaemia Foundation’s Shave for a Cure.

It was a great pleasure being involved and photographing this unique little event, which has run every Friday night over the 2015-16 summer in this, its inaugural year. Here’s hoping this event stretches its legs in the coming summer and grows into bigger and better things. Viva la Summertime Sessions…and the Gold Coast music scene!

Tamborine Mountain Bed & Breakfast photo shoot

THE breathtaking view all the way to the Gold Coast skyline from this quaint little B&B on Tamborine Mountain is one of the many reasons I am so glad to be a local photographer in this part of the world.

Definitely well worth dragging myself out of bed at 4am to snap a few shots of a perfect sunrise from the deck of Tamborine Mountain Bed & Breakfast. It’s photo shoots like these that make my job fairly easy to handle!

Lovely to meet the long-time owners, Tony and Pam - thanks for inviting me over for the morning.

Trip Advisor Award Winner, anyone interested in getting away from it all for a few days should perhaps consider this little gem in soaring Eagle Heights.
